This will be the final weekend to see Anatomy of Being by Alex Grey at the Meta Gallery.
Its been an incredible experience hosting these amazing artworks.

Celebrating visionary art, many hundreds came together for this historic event, one of a few rare visits of Alex and Allyson Grey to Canada and their first experience of Toronto. It all began at the gorgeous Meta Gallery which opened late last year in the beautiful old town Distillery District of Toronto.

Toronto, Ontario, June 4, 2009 – Meta Gallery is pleased to present Anatomy of Being, new and old works by Alex Grey. The artist’s first solo exhibition with Meta Gallery marks his first showing in Canada in
over 20 years and embodies a broad spectrum of the inner and outer worlds Grey depicts through work produced between 1999-2009.

Alex Grey’s portrait of the ‘visionary Senator’ President Elect, Barack Obama. The painting was begun at the Rock the Ink Tattoo Convention, in Rhode Island on October 23, 2008, in front of a live audience.

Stretching out like one of the Buddha’s great bejeweled parasols, the term Visionary Art encompasses a wide variety of styles, genres, periods, and degrees of abstraction. Definitions abound, but here is my hard crystal: visionary art is art that resonates with visionary experiences, those undeniably powerful eruptions of numinous and multidimensional perception that suggest other orders of reality.
