Historic Gathering of Visionary Artists in Alpine Eco-village

Apr 10, 2010 Daniel Mirante in News No Comments Tags: Amanda Sage, laurence caruana, mische technique

An eco-village in the Italian foot-Alps will become the backdrop to a historical gathering of Visionary artists this summer. Permaculture, Visionary Art & Entheogens – all will intertwine during the 3rd annual Visions in the MischTechnik Painting Seminar in Torri Superiore, Italy.

This year’s seminar promises to be a special event, since Laurence Caruana will be co-teaching with Amanda Sage and Andrew Gonzalez, while being joined by other experienced artists such as David Heskin and Aloria Weaver – not to mention the anticipated 12 – 15 students. Each summer’s gathering has become a creative confluence of talented spirits pursuing their visions in paint.

Laurence Caruana and Amanda Sage, who both worked as assistants to the Viennese master Ernst Fuchs, will be teaching his classical MischTechnik to a new generation of Visionary artists, while Andrew Gonzalez will teach the more modern method of airbrushing.

The three week seminar is held each year in the Italian eco-village of Torri Superiore – a labyrinthine village of spiralling stairs & narrow passages built from the local limestone in 1300. The inhabitants of this small community live in harmony with their environment, practicing permaculture and sustainable living.

The seminar students will become a part of village life – sharing in communal meals prepared from fresh, organic ingredients grown in the surrounding fields. Evenings are spent in creative collaboration & exploration, while weekends include two expeditions: one to Damanhur’s Temples of Humankind, which offer a maze of sculpted & stained-glass chambers dug in the Valchiusella hillside, and one to Ernst Fuchs’ home atelier, where the Viennese master will reveal his latest works and advise the participants on the intricacies of the MischTechnik.
