Visionary Arts: What Vision? by Gaia Orion

The artist’s life may seem to be unfolding like an archetypal legend where dreams and events are interwoven in a perfect dance. The core of these visions is an ordered and centered life with intentions of understanding and integrity. The visionary art that comes from this base is what we also call “contemporary sacred art”.

The Transpersonal Language : Spirit Art and Collective Healing

May 6, 2008 admin in Interviews 1 Comment Tags: glyphs, symbols

by Lunaya Shekinah

“You can never be lost.
When have you ever been apart from me?
You can never depart and never return.
For we are continuous, indistinguishable.”

- Alex Grey, “Cosmic Christ”

If my life has been one thing, it’s blessed. It seems like every time I think I have an understanding of how fortunate I am, I am taken way further and deeper than I ever knew I could go, into the healing, evolutionary realm of the transpersonal experience. Again and again, I recieve medicine, teachings, and transformation through my encounters with what I feel is the true nature of life : the unity of everything. The Transpersonal experience is the realization of oneself as one infinite, unbroken life in motion : pure endless spirit, beyond the individual self, or personality. This is where my art comes from.

01 : EMPOWER

I don’t feel I’m in control of how and when these experiences happen for me… at least not this small individual. I just know that they happen, and I feel that this is a fundamentally natural experience, in the deepest sense.

What’s interesting is that in these unique times, I often recieve special healings, visions and teachings from myself. I have always been something of a portrait artist. I have done a lot of representational portraiture, and I have psychic abilities which I’ve used to draw spirit guides and angels that I see. So, when my experiences starting expressing themselves through visions, particularly of sacred, very meaningful symbols, I knew that I was being granted a kind of key, which I could use to bring my experience back with me, for myself and others to study and hold close.

18 : RECIEVE

These symbols are an expression of the what I call the transpersonal language, which in simple terms could be described as the language which anyone can understand. These symbols don’t quite act the way Japanese glyphs do, where they each have a specific designated meaning… nor are they really like characters in an alphabet (although I play with that concept sometimes). I also doubt that you can really understand their meaning with the mind. The way that these symbols work as language, is by literally containing the essence of a particular state of transpersonal realization, thus having the ability to spark or facilitate that very state in whoever looks at them. All that is required for that to work, is humble receptivity.

This kind of healing experience which can be triggered by these paintings, may take a variety of different forms. It may be very subtle or extremely noticeable… depending on what is needed at the time. However this transmission takes shape in our experiences, moment to moment, I can certainly trust that it has the ability to heal, teach and transform on deep unconscious levels, ourselves and our world. In that sense I feel not only inspired, but called, to bring these symbols into the world by painting them.

08 : REFINE

I am currently working on a series of these medicine symbols in acrylic paint, which will eventually take form as a complete 72 card tarot deck. You can always check in on the progress of this ongoing project at this link :

Hola silverbirch, interesting gift you have, the symbols apparently do carry a noticeable interesting energies, I feel the clash of the old paradigms and the new one, while the latter is more natural, more liquid and harmious.

Only the red background is perhaps too much for me, It is much more pleasant for me to colorize them into green. Looking at the red makes my head ache after while.

    Wishing you the best medicine..
