In general the Slavonic native religions have a lot in common with the rest of the Indo-European spiritual traditions and have a direct connection to Vedanta. A Russian word Veda (t’) means “to know” or just a “knowledge”, “awareness”, came from Sanskrit.

Lila has charted the contemporary visionary and sacred art movement by talking directly to those involved. Explore the themes, motifs, inspirations and approaches to creativity found in visionary art.

Visionary Arts: What Vision? by Gaia Orion

The artist’s life may seem to be unfolding like an archetypal legend where dreams and events are interwoven in a perfect dance. The core of these visions is an ordered and centered life with intentions of understanding and integrity. The visionary art that comes from this base is what we also call “contemporary sacred art”.

“In a dense phosphorescent fog, I have been searching for things which can never be found: the journals of Adam and Eve; a photographic record of the cities of the interior; a map charting the soul’s disasters and renewals; the keys to locked dimensions; the point at the centre of everything …”

“My paintings are a residue of this effort. But they are only shells, fossil imprints around the things I truly meant to give existence to – those lost moments when my identity fell to the ground like a torn dress, and I moved through non-human spheres with X-ray vision and a compound mind, seeing and being all of those impossible things.”

    hello –
Im very very shocked, to say the least…
I have been on the computer for a few hours at work, researching sacred symbols for some murals im designing for the House of Blues Boston… when i stumbled upon your site. I searched for “visionary symbols” and found the piece you did of the extraterrestrial like woman with her hands above her head. I was very alarmed, for I have ALSO seen this exact image and sketched it in a dream journal. Lately ive been studying methods of opening communication between myself and the spiritual realm, and it is suggested that i keep a journal of all my visions and aural psychic experiences. This specific image appeared to me very very vividly while in the beginning stages of my evening meditation. Whats even more odd about me stumbling upon your site, is that i have not discussed this vision with anyone until yesterday – when I explained its impression on my mentality to a close friend.I would love to discuss this and probably other things to you if i can – my email is susydugan@gmail.com
I am so amazed at this discovery – i truly hope you contact me.
    Thankyou!
    susy
